They can have funny sayings on them that make us laugh and they can become beautiful works of art with interesting designs and patterns with a million colors. They can be made of sustainable fibers such as organic cotton or even hemp. They feel good and are practical, a type of uniform that serves a purpose and never lets you down. They represent clothing that advances your work. From carpenters to chefs and artists, they are a type of clothing that should be celebrated.

Some interesting facts about aprons:

Did you know that in the Bible aprons were the first clothing. Gen. 3:7, of the bands of fig-leaves made by our first parents. This is referring to Adam and Eve who sewed together fig leaves to make aprons to cover themselves. So if not for aprons we all might be nude today.

Aprons can be symbols of family and motherhood. Aprons have cultural significance. In a sense they have become one of the fabrics covering today's contemporary ideologies. They can be much more than a fashion statement. If you really think about it, aprons can represent a mother's love and much more.

Aprons can also make a social statement by offering cutting age style, a thoughtful statement and even offer funny slogans that help define the wearer, besides being one of the most practical garments ever devised.

Aprons have been with humanity since the beginning of time. Did you know there are pictures of the Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun wearing an apron: in the shape of a large triangle that was heavily decorated with jewels, and was most likely ceremonial rather than functional.

Even today the modern Freemasonry society uses aprons to represent rank and stature.

The masons are required to wear aprons at their meeting. The Masons have three types of aprons for each of their ranks. One: Entered Apprentice, Two: Fellowcraft and Three: Master Mason. The first apron is plain white with a white triangular, the second is a little more elaborate and the Master apron is very elaborate.

These three different aprons represent a throwback to the ancient times when in order to be a Stone Mason you had to first be an apprentice for many years. Aprons were worn as protection garments for their craft.

Today it is not uncommon to see butchers at a grocery stores wearing white aprons with stains on them. Chefs and Cooks wipe their hands on their protective aprons constantly.

When you go to your local restaurant you see waiters and waitress wearing aprons with the order pads in a pocket and straws and napkins in the other. When you go to a seafood restaurant you might have to wear a plastic lobster bib apron to protect your clothing from all that dripping hot butter.
